Sprawling tufts of looped, coiled and crocheted yarn stretch across walls and floors Vanessa Barragãofabrics elaborated and inspired by nature. The Portuguese artist (previously) draws inspiration from the textures of coral, rock pools, botanicals and the cosmos to compose large fiber pieces.

Each piece can take up to three weeks to complete, as Barragão and a team of six studio assistants, including her mother, her sister, with additional crochet input from her grandmothers, collaboratively knot the yarn through each individual hole. into the hessian to create lush, biomorphic shapes.
